The Diocese of Kalookan formally received 14 old paintings of Stations of the Cross from the Lucas Family at Pescadores Restaurant on March 12.
Bishop of Kalookan Pablo Virgilio David, together with his curia and the presence of San Bartolome Parish’s parish priest, Fr. Jun Erlano, had a meal with the Lucas family, who acquired the paintings from an auction.
The Lucas family acquired the 1960s paintings from Salcedo Auctions on November 29 last year, after learning that they were the old estampas of San Bartolome Church. The family bought the paintings to return them to the church.
Bishop David was grateful and amazed that the old paintings are still intact and together.
The Diocese’s Cultural Heritage Department is still looking for possible ways to present the paintings to the public.
For years, the Lucas family has helped the Diocese with its projects. They are known for hosting Concepcion, Malabon’s annual Pagoda, and the Salubong on Easter Sunday.
